Student practice is crucial in the professional development of students' careers. For this purpose, our research aimed to assess students' perceptions of practice experiences abroad and within the country and its relation to career maturity. The sample of this research consisted of 108 students from private and state universities in the Republic of North Macedonia. The results showed an above-average level of satisfaction with past student practice experiences, both within the country and abroad, with benefits to aspects such as support, learning resources and teaching methods , and a weak negative association with career maturity indicators. We also found that students' perceptions are significantly associated with their grade point average, the length of student practice, and the satisfaction they feel with the experiences. Better perception of their experiences with learning and teaching, advice, and resources was related to reduced career-related curiosity. The prediction model highlighted the predictive power of the degree of satisfaction with practice experience abroad and—within the country—of grade point average. These findings suggest that higher education institutions must enhance the quality of both domestic and international practice experiences, while career maturity requires elements beyond practice experiences, emphasizing career guidance during university studies.
